Yet for too many Calgarians, the barriers of exclusion and affordability can make participation harder to achieve.

parents with children not in sports say it’s due to affordability and access.
These challenges are deeply connected. When affordability puts sport out of reach, young people miss opportunities to build confidence and a sense of belonging. And when people don’t see themselves reflected in sports—welcomed or accepted—participating can feel out of reach too.
Sport has the power to change that. By removing barriers and creating inclusive spaces, we can help more young people feel confident, connected and supported: both on and off the field.

United Way: Connecting partners to community impact
