United Way of Calgary and Area (United Way) is committed to improving the lives of Calgary women and children – helping to ensure families have the supports they need to thrive. We do this through strong partnerships — a determined, collective effort that brings donors, volunteers and agencies together to create pathways to stability, opportunity and hope.
This Mother’s Day week, a group of Women United members came together to assemble 40 stunning bouquets for mothers and caregivers at Children’s Cottage Society. Award-winning Calgary florist, Lea Romanowski of Designing on the Edge, gave her time and expertise to help the women assemble the bouquets and give back to community.
The Children’s Cottage Society is a long-time United Way partner, providing essential programs and services for families facing crisis. Through the shelter, its crisis nursery, family resources and more, the Children’s Cottage Society is dedicated to building strong, resilient families. United Way is proud to support this work, ensuring caregivers and families receive the compassionate support they need in difficult times.
Eighty per cent of single-parent households in Canada are led by women; at the same time, women continue to earn less than men. United Way supported nine women-focused agencies last year, which collectively served more than 29,000 women and children across our city.
Women United members are part of a network of passionate changemakers who have exclusive access to events, activities and resources that support their social impact and philanthropic journey. Become a member today!
