Every young person deserves a place where they feel they belong.
For Indigenous youth across Calgary, Diamond Willow Youth Lodge is one place where that sense of belonging exists.
Created through a partnership between United Way of Calgary and Area and Miskanawah, the Lodge offers a free, culturally grounded space where Indigenous youth ages 12 to 29 can connect with culture, community and one another.
In 2025, the Lodge welcomed 2,054 youth visits, a 68 per cent increase from 2024. The numbers tell part of the story. The deeper impact is the young people returning to the Lodge because they know they’ll find trusted relationships, cultural connection and a place where they’re accepted exactly as they are.
Guided by Elders, Knowledge Keepers and youth themselves, it is a place to learn, heal and grow.

The 2025 Diamond Willow Youth Lodge Annual Impact Report brings these stories to life, sharing the people, partnerships and programs strengthening Indigenous identity, fostering youth leadership and creating lasting connections to culture and community.
Throughout the year, youth took part in ceremonies, land-based learning, traditional arts and leadership opportunities that helped strengthen identity and confidence.
Partnerships across Calgary also expanded access to recreation, mentorship and cultural programming, creating even more opportunities for youth to thrive.
Looking ahead, the Lodge will continue expanding Elder involvement, cultural programming and youth leadership opportunities, ensuring more Indigenous youth have access to the support, connection and community they deserve.
Because when young people know they belong, they have the foundation to build a brighter future.
