Official Rules and Regulations (the “Rules”) of the contest (the “Contest Name“)

Contest Name: 2025/26 Calgary Flames Prize Pack
Contest Start Date: October 20th, 2025 6:00 PM (MDT)
Context End Date: October 20th, 2025 at 11:00 PM (MDT)
Contest Draw Date: October 22, 2025 at 10 AM (MDT)
Prize: One Calgary Flames prize pack comprise of 2 tickets to the Dec 29th game vs the Boston Bruins, a signed flames jersey, a flames hat and T-Shirt (Valued at approximately $500 CAD)

2. Eligibility

The Contest is open only to residents of the Calgary Metropolitan Area, who have reached the legal age of majority in Alberta at the date of entry. An individual who meets the foregoing eligibility requirements (as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) may be referred to as an “Eligible Entrant“. Despite the foregoing, officers, directors, employees, contractors, representatives and agents of the Sponsor (as well as immediate family members and any persons domiciled with any of the above (whether related or not) are not eligible to enter or participate nor win the Prize (defined above) in the Contest.

The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, municipal, territorial and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.


3. Contest Period

The Contest begins on the Contest Start Date listed above and ends on the Contest End Date listed above (the “Contest Period“). The Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Contests.

An Eligible Entrant will receive a maximum of one (1) Entry (as defined below) per Contest Period.


4. Agreement to be Legally Bound

By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning the Prize is contingent upon fulfilling all applicable requirements set forth therein.


5. How To Enter

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Standard internet access fees may apply (check your carrier plan for standard internet access fees). The two (2) ways to participate in the Contest are as follows:

  1. QR Code / Virtual Entry: An Eligible Entrant must (i) scan a QR code or click on the link; (ii) answer a question based on the Sponsor’s marketing materials, in accordance with the on-screen instructions provided; and (iii) submit the Eligible Entrant’s first and last name, email address, and any other information requested by the Sponsor. (a “QR Code Submission”).Upon receipt of a QR Code Submission in accordance with these Rules (as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion), an Eligible Entrant will be eligible to receive one (1) entry (a “QR Code Entry”) in the Contest, subject to the Prize Claim Conditions and these Rules.
  2. Written Entry. Alternatively, an Eligible Entrant can mail a written request to enter the Contest with the following enclosed: (i) the Eligible Entrant’s telephone number and email address (if any); (ii) the Eligible Entrant’s first and last name; (iii) confirmation of the Eligible Entrant’s age; (iv) a unique and original essay on “Why I Want to Enter the Contest”. (a “Request”) to the following address: United Way of Calgary and Area, 105 12 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G. Upon receipt of a valid Request in accordance with these Rules (as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion), an Eligible Entrant will be eligible to receive one (1) entry (a “Mailed Entry”) in the Contest, subject to the Prize Claim Conditions and these Rules.

Each QR Code Entry or Mailed Entry is referred to herein as an “Entry” and collectively, “Entries“. An Entry may be rejected if, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, (i) the Entry or Entries are not conducted, submitted, and/or received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion. For greater certainty, any Entry that does not follow the applicable requirements as provided in these Rules (as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) will be void.

The use of any automated entry device is prohibited.


6. Prize

The Prize available to be won is listed above as (the “Prize“), which will be provided by the Sponsor.

The Prize must be accepted as awarded, without express or implied guarantee. The Prize has no cash value equivalent unless required by law. The Prize is non-transferrable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion. The Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to (i) substitute all or any portion of the Prize with another prize or portion thereof of equal or greater value; and (ii) modify the Prize, the quantity of Prizes, and/or award schedule at any time during the Contest. The Prize may also be subject to additional terms and conditions.

The actual value of the Prize is subject to price fluctuations in the consumer marketplace based on, among other things, any gap in time between the date the average retail value is estimated for purposes of these Rules and the date the Prize is awarded or redeemed. Winners are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with Prize receipt and/or use.


7. Winner Selection and Notification

One (1) Random Draw (defined below) will be conducted in Calgary, Alberta from all valid Entries on the Contest Draw Date noted above to determine a potential Prize winner (the “Potential Winner”).  A “Random Draw” is a draw initiated by employee of the Sponsor and processed by a computer program that simulates a random draw.

Odds of winning the Prize depend on the number of Entries received during the Contest Period.  If an Eligible Entrant is selected as the winner of the Prize and fulfills the conditions outlined in these Rules, the Sponsor will make up to three (3) attempts to contact the selected Eligible Entrant by e-mail at the e-mail address provided in the QR Code Entry or Mailed Entry within five (5) business days following the Contest Draw Date (the “Prize Notification“).


8. Prize Claim Conditions

Receiving the Prize is contingent upon compliance with these Rules, and the Potential Winner is subject to verification by the Sponsor.

The Prize Notification will include a mathematical skill-testing question and a declaration and release form (“Release“). In order to be declared the winner of the Prize (the “Winner“), the Potential Winner must, within five (5) business days from the date of the Prize Notification, (i) correctly answer, unaided, the mathematical skill-testing question and provide the answer to the Sponsor, and (ii) complete, sign and return the Release to the Sponsor.

The Potential Winner will forfeit the Prize if: (1) the Sponsor is not able to provide the Prize Notification as the Eligible Entrant cannot be reached by emails sent to the email address provided is returned or is otherwise undeliverable; (2) the skill-testing question is incorrectly answered; or (3) the Release and the answer to the skill-testing question are not received by the Sponsor within the five (5) business day time limit or are returned unsigned or not otherwise completed.

If the Prize is forfeited by the Potential Winner, the Sponsor will select another Potential Winner by random draw from among the remaining eligible entries and so on until the Prize is awarded.

The Potential Winner of the Prize may also be required to do any or all of the following in order to be eligible to receive the Prize within the time frame indicated: (i) supply proof of age consisting of a legible photocopy of either a provincially issued driver’s license or other government issued identification; or (ii) supply proof of address consisting of a legible photocopy of either a provincially issued driver’s license or other government issued identification.

The Sponsor will ship the Prize to the Winner to a location within the Calgary Metropolitan Area, and all expenses with respect to shipping the Prize will be paid by the Sponsor.


9. Release and Limitation of Liability

By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, related entities, suppliers, distributors, advertising agencies, licensors, any party involved in operating, creating, producing or delivering mobile payment, and each of their officers, owners, directors, shareholders, contractors, agents, employees, donors, general and limited partners, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties“) from and against any and all losses, liability, illness, injury, claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, resulting from, arising out of, or in any way related to the entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt, possession, use or misuse of the Prize.

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Released Parties shall not be liable for any: (i) incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by any entrant, printing errors, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software, inaccessibility of the websites and applications owned and operated by the Sponsor and its local sub-domains and mobile applications (the “Websites and Applications“) in whole or in part for any reason, faulty data transmissions, or the failure of any online transmissions to be sent or received; (iii) unauthorized human intervention at any stage of the Contest entry process or participation; (iv) technical or human errors which may occur in the administration of the Contest; (v) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by an entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt, possession, use or misuse of the Prize; (vi) any use or unauthorized use of the Websites and Applications; (vii) the cancellation of the Contest; and (viii) the disqualification or suspension of an individual’s participation in the Contest. If for any reason an entrant’s QR Code Entry or Mailed Entry is determined, in the Sponsor’s sole discretion, to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, an entrant’s sole remedy is another QR Code Entry or Mailed Entry provided in compliance with these Rules. No more than the stated number of Prizes will be awarded.

The Contest is not administered, endorsed, or sponsored by any social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or X). These platforms are not associated with this Contest in any way. By entering, Eligible Entrants acknowledge that these platforms bear no responsibility and no liability in connection with this Contest. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest must be directed to the Sponsor and not to Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or X.


10. Publicity

Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes each Eligible Entrant’s consent to the Sponsor’s use of their name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown and province for promotional purposes worldwide, in perpetuity, in any and all media, manner, and formats now known or hereafter devised, without further payment or consideration, if the Eligible Entrant wins the Prize.


11. Privacy

Any information collected from Eligible Entrants is subject to the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy (available at: calgaryunitedway.org/about-us/privacy/). By participating in the Contest, each Eligible Entrant acknowledges that they have reviewed and understand the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy and consent to the practices described in that policy.


12. Right to Modify / Suspend / Terminate

The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion and without notice to any Eligible Entrant, to cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest, or any part of it, for any reason, including without limitation in the event of any printing error, administrative error, virus, bug, unauthorized human intervention, tampering, fraud, equipment failure, security breaches or other factor which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness or proper functioning of the Contest, or any event or cause beyond the Sponsor’s control (e.g. events such as natural calamities, national emergencies, widespread illnesses, pandemics, declarations of war, acts of God, or acts of terrorism) which interferes with any aspect of the Entries, including but not limited to fulfillment of the Prize.


13. General

The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify from this Contest any person that the Sponsor reasonably believes has tampered with or attempted to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, or who does not comply with these Rules (including, without limitation, an individual who submits more than one (1) Entry per Contest Period), or acts in a manner that goes against the spirit of the Contest or with the intent to disturb, insult, threaten, intimidate or harass any other person.

ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE CONTEST PLATFORM/APPLICATION/WEBSITE (OR A WEBSITE LINKED THERETO) OR TO UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND, SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, each entrant agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Sponsor and the Released Parties from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to the entrant’s breach of these Rules.

Any waiver by the Sponsor of the strict observance, performance or compliance of any portion of these Rules and any extension of time or other indulgence granted by the Sponsor, either expressly or by course of conduct, shall not alter, affect or prejudice any of the Sponsor’s rights or remedies and shall be effective only in the specific instance and for the purpose for which it was given and shall be deemed not to be a waiver of any of the Sponsor’s rights and remedies arising in respect of any other breach of these Rules.

No delay or omission by the Sponsor in exercising any right or remedy hereunder shall operate as a waiver of that or any other right or remedy.

Words in the singular form shall be construed to include the plural and vice versa, unless the context otherwise requires, and the word “including” means “including but not limited to”.

Each of the provisions contained in these Rules is distinct and severable and a declaration of invalidity or unenforceability of any such provision or part thereof by a court of competent jurisdiction will not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision of these Rules.


14. Disputes

These Rules are governed by the laws of the province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta, without reference to conflict of laws provisions, and the parties to these Rules attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Alberta in the judicial centre of the city of Calgary in respect of all matters arising hereunder. The Sponsor reserves the right to seek all remedies available at law and in equity for violations of these Rules.

Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any Prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (ii) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event lawyers’ fees, and each entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
