When Calgarians are in crisis, Distress Centre Calgary is there to listen—24/7. Each year, the Centre responds to more than 50,000 calls, texts and chats from people seeking help.

As our city faces rising mental health needs, United Way partners with the Distress Centre to ensure no one has to experience crisis alone. United, we see the need and meet it with compassion, connection and care.

In this short video, our Campaign Co-Chair Linda Olsen visits Distress Centre Calgary to speak with CEO Robyn Romano about the growing complexity of calls, and why round-the-clock support matters.

“Crisis is not a nine-to-five,” Romano shares.
“It’s essential that people have somewhere to turn to any hour of the day.”
