These Cabinet Members lead by example and are committed to making our city the best it can be through their generously donated time, skills and expertise.

Scott Barron
Head of Calgary Investment Banking,
TD Securities
Scott is Head of Calgary Investment Banking in the Global Energy Group.
Scott began his career with TD in 2002 in the lending group, where he covered a portfolio of private companies. In 2004, he joined the Investment Banking team in Calgary, Alberta, and has held various roles over the past 20 years with increasing levels of responsibility. Currently, Scott is responsible for primary coverage of the Canadian upstream, midstream, and energy transition sectors.
Scott has an undergraduate degree in Finance and a Masters degree in the Science of Finance.

Linda Olsen
Journalist/Former Global News Anchor
Award-winning journalist Linda Olsen is a proud born-and-raised Calgarian who has been part of the broadcast news landscape for decades. She is a familiar face and trusted journalist who has shared the stories of her hometown and beyond since 1988 when she graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
Linda recently retired from Global News Calgary after a 36-year career as a journalist and host.
She has extensive experience as a senior news anchor, reporter, and community advocate and has spent her career highlighting the important and inspiring work being done in this world-class city.
Linda has been a host, emcee, and keynote speaker for numerous charitable events. She was also host and producer of Global Television’s Woman of Vision series. For 15 years, she highlighted the stories of inspirational women in the community with monthly television news features and columns in the Calgary Herald, culminating with a gala luncheon every year on International Women’s Day.
An ambassador and advocate for the community, Linda is a board member with the Calgary Children’s Foundation and served as a board member with Parks Foundation Calgary, and as an honorary board member of Believe in the Gold, a local children’s cancer charity.
Linda is proud to have received an Honorary Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from SAIT in 2015, as well as SAIT’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2022. Linda was also recognized with the Honorary Fellow Award at Calgary’s St. Mary’s University in 2020.

Adam Fellows is the Managing Director & Head of Canadian Energy, Corporate Banking for CIBC Capital Markets and is responsible for managing a portfolio of capital commitments provided to Canadian energy clients. Adam has been with CIBC for over 12 years and brings 25 years of energy experience to the role. Adam holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and an MBA from Queen’s University.
Adam joined the United Way Calgary and Area’s major donor cabinet in 2022 and is look forward to his new role, acting as Co-Chair of the cabinet for the 2025 campaign. Adam also acts as VP Finance for Choir Alberta, an Alberta-based organization dedicated to raising the voice and profile of choral music.

Claire Greenwood

Claire Greenwood has worked in the oil and gas industry for nearly 30 years and currently holds the position of Vice President Development, where she is responsible for the portfolio of projects required to achieve Suncor’s strategic objectives. She is key member of Suncor’s Strategy, Sustainability and Corporate Development senior leadership team setting and achieving the long-term direction of the company.
Claire received a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Athabasca University. Claire began her career with Amoco Canada Petroleum in heavy oil operations and subsequently joined Petro Canada where she supported the design and start up of one of the first commercial scale in situ oil sands operations. Claire joined Suncor via the merger with Petro Canada in 2009 and has since held roles with increasing responsibility including development, project execution, commercial, integration, optimization and financial planning. Prior to her current role, Claire was the Vice President GHG Emissions reduction focused on advancing the organization’s long term decarbonization plans.
Claire has both a broad and deep understanding of the energy sector and is focused on developing high-performance teams, systems thinking and delivering results. She is currently the Co-Chair for the United Way of Calgary and Area Major Donor cabinet, and she has served on the United Way for the last 5 years. Claire resides in Calgary Alberta Canada and enjoys hiking, golfing and cross-country skiing.

Mark Stumpf

Mark is currently a Business Planning Manager for a major global expansion opportunity for ExxonMobil.
Previously, Mark was on loan to the global non-governmental organization Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) from Imperial Oil. In this role he led the team developing and implementing AEPW funded projects across the Americas. Prior, Mark was Vice-President, Chemicals and Refining for ExxonMobil’s affiliate in Saudi Arabia and before that, Manager, Chemicals for Imperial Oil, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he was responsible for the Chemical business in Canada. He was also the chair of the board of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada in 2015.
Mark joined Imperial Oil in 1993 and has held a variety of positions with Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil in Toronto, Houston and Calgary, including sales, supply, plant operations and business leadership, including Manager, Investor Relations and Manager, Safety, Health and Environment for Imperial Oil.
Mark is on the Major Donor Cabinet of the United Way of Calgary and Area and was the co-chair of the Leadership Giving Cabinet in 2014.
Mark was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Business Administration degree from York University (Toronto). Mark is married with a son and daughter and currently lives in Calgary, Alberta. In his free time, Mark enjoys playing and watching sports, especially baseball, hockey, golf and squash.

Colin leads the renewable fuels investment banking coverage for CIBC and has a broad range of experience across multiple industries including the midstream, oil & gas, and energy transition sectors. Prior to investment banking, Colin was a Manager in the Audit & Assurance Group of PwC LLP.

Michael Monachello

Michael is a leader in Deloitte’s private company audit practice, bringing over 15 years of professional experience in public accounting and assurance. He has a strong background in serving clients across the energy sector, including upstream oil and gas, midstream & infrastructure, power generation, energy transition, and rate-regulated entities.
Outside of his professional life, Michael is married and the proud father of two young boys. He enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors, with activities such as golfing, hiking, fishing, and cross-country skiing. Michael is passionate about making a positive impact in his community.

Hsiu-Yan Chan

Hsiu-Yan Chan is a professional engineer with over 20 years of energy industry experience in optimization, transformation, strategy, commodity marketing, oil supply, engineering, operations and maintenance. She holds degrees in Engineering, Biology and Business.
Deeply committed to supporting her community, Hsiu-Yan currently serves on the boards of Pro Bono Law Alberta, the Western University Alumni Association, and the Ryan Chen Memorial Foundation. She is a former Board Chair of Inn from the Cold and Junior Achievement South Western Ontario, and has previously served as a board director for the Canadian Propane Association and Huron House Boys Home. Additionally, she has volunteered with the United Way Sarnia Lambton’s Community Investment Committee and several United Way workplace campaigns.

Jason Luinenburg

With more than 25 years of experience with Imperial Oil, Jason Luinenburg has developed skills in sales & business development, strategic planning, project management, corporate finance, and acquisitions and divestments. He has also supported the company and its people through employee recruitment activities, mentoring, and organizational leadership.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Master of Business Administration from Schulich School of Business, York University.
He began supporting the United Way early in his career, as part of Imperial’s longstanding annual charitable campaign, and served as Chair of the company’s 2023 and 2024 corporate campaigns.
His hobbies include automobiles & racing, and personal finance & investments.

Tom McCarthy, P.Eng.

Tom leads the technical advisory and acquisition & divestiture team within TD Securities’ Global Energy investment banking group and has been with the firm since 2018. Prior to joining TD, Tom held a variety of development roles for upstream oil and gas entities, which included executing corporate budgets, managing large inter-disciplinary teams, stewarding corporate reserves processes and being the technical liaison between First Nations, regulatory bodies and other stakeholder groups. Tom is a professional member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, regularly contributing to program committees, speaking at conferences and advising on other SPE educational and training initiatives.

Jermyn Voon

Jermyn K.Y. Voon is a business professional and community leader deeply committed to enhancing accessibility, fostering the arts, promoting inclusivity, and engaging in civic and political activities. His diverse background includes valuable experience across multiple sectors, including federal and provincial government, as well as the private and non-profit realms, where he has contributed in roles spanning accounting, administration, communications, events management, and marketing.
As a highly engaged community volunteer, Mr. Voon currently serves on the boards of Le Cirque de la Nuit (Treasurer) & the CPA Calgary Chapter (Alternate Secretary). He is also a member of the Calgary Foundation’s Arts & Heritage Grant Advisory Committee & SAMRU Advisory Committee (Chair). Previously, Jermyn has served on the boards and committees of Arts Commons (Finance & Audit Committee), Downstage Performance Society (Vice Chair & Interim Treasurer), Calgary Justice Film Festival, Federation of Calgary Communities (Board Secretary, Nominations Committee Chair, Acting Treasurer & Finance Committee Chair), Canadian Club of Calgary (Board President & Nominations Committee Chair), among other community-focused organizations. Dave Hughes

Dave Hughes was the Vice President of Investor Relations at Imperial Oil prior to his retirement at the end of 2023 after 34 years of service. He was in this current role for seven years. Prior to that he held a range of positions within the company’s upstream, downstream and corporate groups. His experience includes refining, supply and transportation, logistics, business analysis and reporting, upstream project management, and commercial pipeline work. Dave’s career also includes an international assignment with ExxonMobil, where he spent five years in various roles in Fairfax, Virginia and Houston, Texas. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc) from the University of Calgary and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Queen’s University, and holds a Professional Engineer designation. He is the past board chair of Social Venture Partners Calgary, a non-profit modelled around engaged philanthropy, focused on provided financial support and professional expertise to other Calgary non-profit organizations. Dave currently sits on the board of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (Alberta).

Cayla Saby

Cayla brings over 18 years of experience in the utilities industry. She began her career at AltaLink in 2005, and has held a number of increasingly senior customer service-based positions over that time. Cayla has extensive experience working with external stakeholders and has led the development of several AltaLink programs focused on improving service to a variety of AltaLink’s customers in project execution, operational delivery and regulatory engagement. As Vice President, Government Relations and Commercial, she is responsible for policy advocacy and engagement with all levels of government, and leading AltaLink’s commercial business. Cayla holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Culture from the University of Calgary.

Kim Armstrong, KC

Kim Armstrong joined the Calgary Police Service in 2023 as the Chief People Officer (CPO) and brings an extensive professional background in municipal and provincial government, as well as law enforcement.
Kim’s role at CPS is to lead the Bureau of People and Organizational Development, which offers member-focused supports in the areas of learning, recruitment, human resources, and wellness. Kim also plays an instrumental role in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion within the Service.
Prior to joining the Calgary Police Service, Kim served as the Deputy City Manager for Employee Services at the City of Edmonton – an organization of 14,000 employees. Previous positions include the Deputy Minster for two portfolios in the Government of Alberta, Status of Women and Seniors and Housing. She served as the Deputy Secretary to Cabinet as well as the Acting Deputy Minister, Deputy Attorney General and Associate Deputy Minister for the Alberta Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General. Kim also worked at the Edmonton Police Service from 1997 to 2006 where she had a number of roles including leading the Legal Services Section.
Her experience, combined with her passion for people and law enforcement, continues to further expand and strengthen the vital work underway in the bureau dedicated to our people.

Elizabeth Burton leads Operations Support at Suncor Energy and has over 20 years of experience leading projects and services to deliver value and reduce risk.
Having spent 7 years based in Fort McMurray operations, Liz brings an unwavering focus on safety culture and a process driven mindset to improve business results. Known for her visionary, people-focused leadership, she empowers teams to paint a picture of the future and execute efficiently. Her expertise encompasses strategic planning, project execution, corporate real estate, IT, governance, and future of work.
Liz is a fur-mom of 2, married and an avid reader. She is passionate about giving back through organizations focused on systemic societal issues and change, and currently on the board of Rowan House Society providing hope to victims of domestic abuse. Her other volunteer contributions include business mentor for Technovation, and United Way Days of Caring. As a member of the Metis Nation of Alberta, Liz is also committed to continued growth and awareness on the journey of reconciliation.

As the Manager of Chronic Disease Management and Screening, Stacey Black provides leadership to a team of Registered Nurses in Calgary. Her qualifications include a Master of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Calgary. Stacey has worked as a Clinical Informatics Lead with Alberta Health Services and as a Registered Nurse in both Canada’s and Australia’s health care system.

Christine Brown is a proud board member of Women United and a people-first leader at TD Bank, where she’s been making waves for over 12 years. She’s all about creativity, connection, and collaboration—and her secondment to United Way in 2023 was a career highlight, supporting over 500 workplace campaigns across Calgary. Christine is passionate about empowering women, uplifting others, and making the world a little brighter (and more fun!) wherever she goes. My name is Jessica Robichaud, and I am thrilled to be one of the GenNext Committee’s Co-Chairs for 2024. Last year was my first time being involved with GenNext and United Way. It was an incredibly rewarding experience and I look forward to planning and executing more events with this committee. I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Technology Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2021. Over the last few years, I have been working as a Commercial Insurance Broker in various lines of coverage, but recently switched to being a Commercial Underwriter. I am passionate about giving back to the community and look forward to being apart of an organization focused on creating positive change in the Calgary Area.

Marcus Rocque

Marcus is focused on analyzing trends and market fundamentals for the energy industry, providing data management and analysis, evaluation of current and future policies, as well as contributing to the weekly ARC publications.
Marcus’ research covers a wide range of energy systems, from oil and gas to transitional energy; including biofuels, carbon capture, renewable power, electricity markets, and energy storage.
He has a Master’s in Economics from the University of Toronto and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University.

Claudia Belanger

Claudia is a local Calgary philanthropist, corporate go getter, runner and outdoor enthusiast. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Queen’s University followed by a Graduate Diploma in Business and is currently working as a Life Sciences Resident Advisor for Western Canada for Chubb Insurance. Claudia is extremely passionate about creating accessibility to a healthy life style throughout her community. She has spearheaded the Chubb’s annual United Way campaign for the past 3 years and is currently the Calgary Branch Lead for the reRUN Shoe Project, a non for profit organization that collects lightly used to new running shoes and re-donates them back to local schools and organizations. Claudia is extremely passionate and excited to be a part of United Way and the GenNEXT community to help promote philanthropy and see the first hand impact it can have on the amazing Calgary community.

Dennis Cosmas

Dennis Cosmas is excited and grateful to be part of United Way of Calgary and Area’s GenNEXT committee, where he collaborates with young professionals committed to making a meaningful impact in the Calgary community. Through this opportunity, he aims to deepen his connection to philanthropy early in his career while building strong relationships with future leaders.
Dennis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and currently works as an Evaluation Engineer at McDaniel and Associates Consultants Ltd. When he’s not keeping up with energy-related news, he can often be found biking along the Bow River or immersed in a thrilling novel.

Zachary Hertz

Zachary Hertz is currently working as a Deals Desk Analyst with Trafigura. He previously spent time in investment banking and equity research with Peters & Co. Zachary holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and a Bachelor or Arts in Economics from the University of Calgary. He has sat on the GenNEXT Committee since January 2023. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, cycling, skiing, and staying active.

Lucia Lipon

Lucia Lipon is the Business Development Manager at Modular Green Technologies Inc. (MGTI), a clean-tech company transforming landfill waste into renewable energy. Her work spans amongst building strategic partnerships, sustainability planning, and community outreach, allowing her to spearhead solutions at the intersection of environmental and economic impact.
With a strong belief in inclusive innovation, Lucia is passionate about creating spaces where all voices are heard and valued. Her drive for social impact is deeply personal – shaped by her experience growing up alongside a sister with an intellectual disability – and has led her to champion initiatives that promote equity, access, and belonging.

Kendra MacLean

Kendra MacLean works in the energy sector as a Business Analyst at Heritage Royalty. Her role involves data management, technology implementation, agreement/geospatial analysis, and project management. As a process innovation enthusiast, Kendra is part of Heritage’s Artificial Intelligence Working Group. Kendra holds a Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Finance and Risk Management from the University of Calgary (2021).
Kendra’s interest in creating positive change was ignited during her volunteer work with the United Way of Calgary and Area in Spring 2019. She participated in The Next, GenNEXT’s leadership and development program, in 2022, and joined the GenNEXT Committee in 2023 to further support GenNEXT initiatives.

Awurama Oteng

Awurama Oteng is an Associate Broker at Aon Reed Stenhouse and is committed to helping businesses navigate complex risk management and insurance challenges. With a strong foundation in insurance, risk management and finance, she brings strategic insight and a people-first approach to the role.
Beyond her corporate career, she is passionate about education, financial literacy and giving back to the Calgary community. Awurama’s desire to engage in social impact and make a positive change in the world is what drives her. She has organized numerous events and initiatives to fundraise and make a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty and mental health challenges. A few years ago she joined the United Way’s The NEXT program and now GenNEXT in an effort to channel this passion into other areas.
Awurama believes supporting your community and giving back is essential to creating a sense of unity and building stronger relationships. She is motivated by opportunities to bridge the gap between to corporate world and philanthropy and she enjoys connecting with others who are equally passionate about creating lasting positive change.

Adejoke Popoola
Director and Gospel Music Artist,
Gracious Hearts Music
Adejoke Popoola is a Nigerian-born gospel artist, songwriter, and co-founder of Gracious Hearts Music. With a Master’s degree in International Events Management from the University of Surrey, she combines academic insight with creative purpose. Since launching her music career in 2020, she has released several faith-filled tracks centered on hope, mercy, and redemption. Through her platform, she has supported over 40 artists, overseen the production of more than 60 songs, and provided free music training—efforts that have earned her multiple awards and recognitions across Africa and the UK.
Now based in Canada, Adejoke serves as a GenNEXT Committee Member with United Way, where she helps plan and deliver youth-focused community events in Calgary. Her work emphasizes leadership, empowerment, and connection, reflecting her ongoing commitment to making a positive impact wherever she goes.

Tracy Qi

Tracy Qi holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Calgary and is a designated CPA. She has a diverse background in finance and energy, having spent three years at PwC before broadening her expertise at BMO Investment Banking. Now, as a key member of Pembina’s Corporate Development team, Tracy utilizes her skills to identify strategic growth opportunities, drive business expansion, and contribute to the company’s long-term success.
Throughout her career at PwC, BMO, and Pembina, Tracy has actively participated in the United Way Campaign. She is eager to apply her diverse experience to GenNEXT, with the goal of making a real impact in Calgary.

Grateful to have called Calgary home for over 20 years, Cole is a digital marketing and fundraising professional with a passion for community, connection, and growth. With a background in Business, Leadership, and Marketing, he has helped drive impact through supporting small businesses in Alberta, social media strategy, and executing events for neurodiverse communities. His recent travels through Southeast Asia deepened his appreciation for Canada and reignited his commitment to helping all Calgarians prosper. He has a passion for bringing people together through events, sports, and the outdoors. In his spare time, you will find him on his bike, on the soccer field or volleyball courts, in the mountains, or connecting with and expanding his community.
