United Way of Calgary and Area is thrilled to announce its inclusion in Charity Intelligence’s prestigious Top 100 Canadians Charities list for 2024. This recognition highlights United Way’s dedication to delivering impactful, transparent and accountable programs that meet the critical needs of Calgarians.

Charity Intelligence analyzes over 800 charities annually across Canada, evaluating organizations on their financial stewardship, results and overall impact. Being named to this list reaffirms United Way’s transparency and accountability while recognizing the transformative role it plays in improving the quality of life for Calgary’s most vulnerable citizens.

“Our inclusion on this list reinforces our mission of delivering measurable results,” says Karen Young, President and CEO of United Way of Calgary and Area. “We are proud of the commitment shown by our staff, volunteers, donors and partners, whose support enables us to address Calgary’s most pressing challenges while also working toward long-term, sustainable solutions.”

In 2023, United Way of Calgary and Area partnered with 134 local agencies and led four major Signature Initiatives. These initiatives helped over 223,000 individuals, with 91% of those accessing United Way-supported programs experiencing a positive improvement in their quality of life.

United Way’s recognition not only underscores its financial responsibility but also highlights its role as a convener for social change in Calgary. By addressing issues such as financial instability, mental health, social inclusion and community relationships, United Way continues to create lasting solutions that positively impact the lives of thousands of Calgarians.

As United Way continues its more than 80-year legacy of strategic philanthropy, this recognition serves as proof of United Way’s dedication to maximizing the impact of every dollar raised. United Way’s 2024 fundraising campaign, Hope is in Your Hands, is now underway, driving continued support for its vital community work.
